Installation guide for your setup : Self-Contained Hydroponic Cabinet

Fresh vegetables all year round, no garden needed

Before you start

Good news: the Autonomous Hydroponic Cabinet requires no construction work or special connections. A simple standard electrical outlet is all it takes to run it. A short preparation, however, guarantees a start-up with no unpleasant surprises.

The equipment needed

  • The cabinet and its accessories [To be completed: exact contents of the package and supplied accessories]
  • A free standard electrical outlet, immediately next to the intended location
  • Clean water for filling the tank
  • The nutrient solution suited to your crop [To be completed: reference and dosage of the nutrient solution]
  • Your young plants or seedlings: lettuce, vegetables or herbs

Choosing the right location

  • Indoors or balcony: the cabinet is designed for indoor use (living room, kitchen) or on a balcony.
  • Stable, level surface: check that the floor or balcony can support the weight of the cabinet once filled with water [To be completed: weight of the cabinet].
  • Compact footprint: allow enough space around the cabinet for maintenance and opening [To be completed: exact dimensions and recommended clearance].
  • Power supply: no special installation is required, a standard outlet is sufficient [To be completed: power consumption of the cabinet].
  • Noise: [To be completed: noise level of the cabinet in operation].
  • On a balcony, choose a sheltered spot and check the outdoor use conditions in the technical specifications.

Installation or start-up, step by step

  1. Choose the final location of the cabinet: once filled with water, it will be harder to move.
  2. Unpack the package and check that no part is missing and that nothing is damaged.
  3. If the cabinet is delivered unassembled, assemble it following the supplied manual.
  4. Position the cabinet in its final location, leaving free access to the electrical outlet.
  5. Check stability: the cabinet must rest level, without moving or tipping.
  6. Fill the tank with clean water up to the marked line [To be completed: tank capacity and fill line].
  7. Add the nutrient solution at the recommended doses [To be completed: recommended dosage].
  8. Place your young plants or seedlings in the designated spots.
  9. Plug the cabinet into the standard electrical outlet, without an extension cord if possible.
  10. Switch on the cabinet and follow the first-time setup configuration.
  11. Select your growing settings, then start the program: the technology does the rest.

Checks and initial settings

  • Check that the cabinet starts normally: the lighting comes on and the selected program starts.
  • Check the water level after the first few hours: a tank that empties quickly may indicate a leak.
  • After a few days, check that the plants are held properly in their spots and showing normal growth.
  • During the first week, take a daily look at the cabinet: this is the best time to adjust a setting.
  • Note the start-up date: this will help you anticipate the first harvest [To be completed: indicative time before the first harvest].

Maintenance or usage tips

  • Regularly top up the water level [To be completed: recommended refill frequency].
  • Clean the tank and growing supports between growing cycles [To be completed: recommended maintenance frequency and method].
  • Stagger your sowings to enjoy regular harvests all year round, without interruption.
  • Always unplug the cabinet before cleaning or any maintenance operation.
  • Do not move the cabinet when it is filled with water.
  • Promptly remove any leaf or plant in poor condition to protect the rest of the crop.
